BOONSBORO — Close to 1,500 people lost power for about an hour in the Boonsboro area Thursday night, according to a Potomac Edison spokesman.
Residents reported seeing a large flash in the sky in the area of Boonsboro Mountain Road and hearing an explosion, according to a 911 emergency supervisor. Then the power went out, the supervisor said.
Potomac Edison spokesman Todd Meyers said he was not sure what caused the outage. He said Potomac Edison workers reset some equipment to restore power.
Areas without power were primarily in the Boonsboro area along Old National Pike and in an area toward Funkstown, Meyers said.
The outage began at about 7:54 p.m., and power was restored at 8:47 p.m., Meyers said.
