Robert A. Myers, 82, of Bear, Del., passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, after a long illness.
Bob was born Oct. 19, 1929, in Williamsport, Md., one of 13 children of Charles and Esther Myers.
He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and served from 1950 to 1954.
Bob worked for Sears, Roebuck and Co. for 33 years before his retirement.
One of his many passions was traveling. After his retirement, he worked as a travel guide for Travel Groups Inc. Bob also was employed by the Grand Opera House, where he held many roles.
He was an active member of Hockessin Methodist Church and choir.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 26 years, Nancy Jean Myers.
He is survived by his son, David Myers (Alice) of Newark, Del.; daughter, Beth Hennessy (Mike) of Bear; his sisters, Dorine Wood, Ivy Warner and Harriette Bowers; and brothers, Jack Myers and Tom Myers, all of Hagerstown, Md.; four grandsons; one granddaughter; five great-grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.
A memorial service will be Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Williamsport United Methodist Church, 25 E. Church St., Williamsport. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Britner Avenue, Williamsport.
