Let the festivities begin. I always feel like Halloween is the kickoff for all the holiday fun. It starts with costumes and candy and continues straight through to the New Year’s Eve countdown. It’s eight weeks of family traditions and memories just waiting to be made.
Halloween parade
Let's start with Thursday’s Halloween parade in Funkstown.
Funkstown children are invited to line up behind Town Hall at 5:30 p.m. for the parade that starts at 6 p.m.
The parade ends at Dixon-Troxell Post 211 American Legion for a party hosted by the Ladies Auxiliary.
Then, check your Funkstown newsletter for the date and times for trick or treating. Turn on a porch light if you are participating.
Yard waste
A reminder to residents that yard waste is picked up Tuesdays and household trash is picked up on Thursdays. In November, trash pickup will be the Friday following Thanksgiving.
Old Tyme Christmas
I get really excited when I type the word “Christmas,” so bear with me.
The date has been set for Old Tyme Christmas in Funkstown.
It will be Friday, Dec. 9, from 6 to 9 p.m.
