Sharpsburg Elementary to hold Spirit Week

 Sharpsburg Elementary will hold a Red Ribbon Spirit Week Oct. 24 to 28.  

Each day students and staff are encouraged to participate by wearing anti-drug clothing.  

  • Monday — Camo Day, "Be all you can be: Be drug free."  
  • Tuesday — Crazy Hair Day, "Hair's to a drug-free life."  
  • Wednesday — Wear Black Day, "Black out drugs."  
  • Thursday — Wear Jeans Day, "I'm a JEAN-ius: I'm drug free."  
  • Friday — Wear Boots Day, "Give drugs the boot."  

A book fair will be available for student shopping Oct. 27 and 28 and Nov. 1 during parent conferences.  

A walkathon will be held Friday, Nov. 4, as a PTA fundraiser.


Keedysville Ruritan to hold basket bingo

The Keedysville Ruritan will hold a basket bingo Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Little Antietam Community Center on Mount Vernon Drive in Keedysville.

Tickets cost $15.  

Doors open at 4 p.m. and bingo begins at 6. There will be 25 games (five specials), tip jars, basket raffles and food available. Baskets are filled.  

Some are new designs, plus seasonal baskets.

Proceeds will benefit the scholarship funds and other county community service projects. For reservations, call 301-432-2650 or 301-432-0281.


Dargan to hold trick or treat night

The community of Dargan will hold trick or treat night Thursday, Oct. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. for those ages 12 and younger. Residents who wish to participate should turn on a porch light. Motorists are encouraged to drive slowly.

Lions Club to sell ham sandwiches  

The Sharpsburg Lions will sell country ham sandwiches for $2 each. The sandwiches will be delivered Friday, Nov. 4.  To order sandwiches, call Roger Moore at 240-469-4674 by Oct. 28.

Boonsboro Pharmacy to hold food drive  

During October, the Boonsboro Pharmacy will hold a food drive for the local food bank.

For every nonperishable item a donor contributes, the donor will receive a chance to receive a $100 gift card redeemable at Weis Markets, AC&T or the Boonsboro Pharmacy. Younger patrons may choose to redeem their gift cards on iTunes or at Best Buy. A drawing will be held Nov. 1 at 9 a.m.
