Richard "Jim" McCarney, 82, of Hagerstown, Md., died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at the home of his daughter at 49 S. Colonial Drive in Hagerstown.
Born Feb. 4, 1929, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Robert Kenneth McCarney and Mary Gertrude Everley McCarney Stevens.
He attended local schools.
He was employed by Mack Trucks for 15 years, retiring in 1989. Before Mack Trucks, he worked for 12 years as a driver/salesman for the Coca-Cola Bottling Co.
He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 694 and Eagles Club Inc. of Waynesboro, Pa.
He is survived by three daughters, Louise Rainey and Sharon Corbett, both of Hagerstown, and Rebecca L. Kungis of Las Cruces, N.M.; one sister, Helen Jeanette Price of Hagerstown; four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Michael McCarney; two sisters, Grace "Sue" Schaeffer and Patsy Cosgrove; and one brother, William E. Keihl.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Pastor Brent Ward will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
