Mr. John William Lowery, 63, of Frederick, Md., died Sunday, Oct. 16, at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore.
Born Oct. 24, 1947, in Washington County, he was a son of the late John William and Ruth Maryetta Houser Vos Burgh Lowery.
John attended high school in Clear Spring, Md., and played semipro football with the Hagerstown Bears.
He retired from Mirant Mid-Atlantic (formerly Potomac Edison Power Co.) in Dickerson, Md., after 26 years. At the time of his death, he was employed as a truck driver for Advanced Auto Parts in Frederick.
Surviving is one sister, Edna J. Socks of Hagerstown; five daughters, Annette Clark, Christine Parks, Heather Lowery, Stacy Lowery and Lauren Williams; and a son, Shane Lowery. Several nieces, nephews and grandchildren also survive. He will be remembered by his longtime friend, Wesley Shewbridge. He will also be greatly missed by his family, as well as his many neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Vos Burgh.
Mr. Lowery is at Robert E. Dailey & Son Funeral Homes, P.A., 1201 N. Market St., Frederick, where the family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at the funeral home with the Rev. W. Phillip Fogarty officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
