MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Two Martinsburg men have been charged in connection with gunshots fired inside an apartment building early Thursday in the 300 block of West King Street, the Martinsburg Police Department said.

Ronald A. Gass, 21, of 301 Fontana Circle, was charged with two counts of wanton endangerment and one count of obstructing an officer, according to a police department news release.

Derrick D. Tigney, 34, of 303 W. John St., was charged with one count of carrying a concealed deadly weapon.

Police said they were called at 1 a.m. Thursday for a report of gunshots being fired at 311 1/2 W. King St. The release said that at least two people were seen fleeing when officers arrived.

Officers apprehended Gass, and found a 12-gauge shotgun and two semi-automatic pistols during a search of the area, according to the release.

Police said one of the pistols was recovered from a bookbag that contained Gass’ identification card.

Tigney was identified by a witness a short time later as being at the scene at the time of the incident with a shotgun under his coat, police alleged in the release.

Police said no one was injured.
