Williamsport High homecoming parade is Saturday

The annual Williamsport High School homecoming parade will be held Saturday.

Participating units will gather at Springfield Middle School at 10:30 a.m., and the parade starts at 11 a.m.  
The parade will lead through Williamsport and end at the school about noon.

Quarter auction

Zion Lutheran Church, at 35 W. Potomac St., Williamsport, will host a quarter auction Saturday, beginning at noon. The doors will open at 11 a.m. Food will be available for purchase.

Admission is $5, which includes two paddles for bidding. All bids are in quarter increments. More than 80 items will be available to bid on, such as Longaberger, Scentsy, Mary Kay, Thirty One, Celebrating Home, Tupperware, candles and other items. Proceeds will benefit the Kinder Haven Child Care Center.

The public is invited.



Church plans food sale

St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church will have its annual pie, soup, sandwich and apple dumpling sale Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.  

The church is across from the South End Shopping Center in Hagerstown.  

All items are homemade and carry-out only.

The menu includes 6- and 9-inch pies, including apple, peach, pumpkin, cherry, and egg custard; soups available by the quart include chicken corn, chili, ham and bean, and vegetable beef; and sandwiches include country ham, egg salad, and beef and pickle.  



Scouts to hold food drive

Allegany Dental Care is helping Boy Scout Troop 66 with its “Scouting for Food” drive.

Residents are asked to drop off nonperishable food items at Allegany’s three local offices: 19418 Leitersburg Pike, 22109 Jefferson Blvd., or 17719 Virginia Ave. The offices are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Food donations will go to the Parent Child Center in Hagerstown.

Items will be accepted until Nov. 4.

Troop 66 meets at First Christian Church in Hagerstown.

 

Schools closed Oct. 21

Parents of Washington County Public Schools students, be sure to note the following on your calendar: Washington County Public Schools will be closed Friday, Oct. 21, for an association day.
