Amos Gesford, 75, of Martinsburg, W.Va., passed away Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, at his home.
Born Nov. 18, 1935, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Otho Clinton Gesford Sr. and Cecilia May Stratiff Gesford.
He retired from Mack Trucks, and was a member of Teamsters Local 992.
Mr. Gesford was a member of the Martinsburg Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 120.
He was a Volkswagen enthusiast and had entered many car shows, and was known in the area for his knowledge of repairing and restoring Volkswagens.
He is survived by one son, Brian Gesford of Woodstock, Va.; two daughters, Danette R. Jones of Hagerstown, Md., and Lisa M. Bowen of Winchester, Va.; two stepdaughters, Jennifer Minghini and Janelle Monday; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five brothers, Adolph, Albert, Theodore, John and Marvin Gesford; two sisters, Marie Braithwaite and Cecilia Grim; and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Otho Clinton Jr., Bernard A., George W., Andy, Curtis and Richard Gesford; and one sister, Emma Robinson.
Funeral services will be Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg, with the Rev. L. Jack Rudy officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg.
The family will receive friends Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
