A car and a tractor-trailer were involved in an accident on eastbound Interstate 70 about two miles east of Exit 35 (Md. 66/Mapleville Road) on Wednesday morning.
Nobody was injured, Maryland State Police Trooper Dave Matthews said.
A Hyundai was going up a hill in the middle lane on I-70 eastbound when the driver swerved into the right lane to avoid another vehicle merging into the middle lane, Matthews said. The Hyundai then collided with the back of the tractor-trailer, Matthews said.
Eastbound I-70 is three lanes wide in that location.
The front of the Hyundai and the rear of the tractor-trailer were damaged, Matthews said.
Traffic was not affected by the accident.
Police responded to the accident at 8:05 a.m.
