Boy Scout Troop 103 in Hagerstown took part in a service project for its chartered organization, the Rotary Club of Long Meadows.
On Sept. 26, Troop 103 cleaned Rotary Club of Long Meadows Park on Northern Avenue, picking up trash and gathering leaves. Fifteen bags of leaves were removed from the park and taken for lawn waste recycling.
Young at Heart to meet Oct. 13

Chapter losses for the week totaled 18 1/2 pounds for TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0077.
Joan Jones and Patsy Martin were the best TOPS losers, while Mildred Hluchey Linda Siebert and Joan Budney were the best KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) losers.
Lou M. won the monthly KOPS prize and Charles House won for TOPS.
Jean Betker won the weekly ha-ha prize.
The no-no snack for the week is snack crackers.
Elsie Horst presented the program on “Helping Hand.” She said a helping hand makes tasks much easier.
The October contest will be Pounds for the Hungry, a canned-foods collection.
The project for December will be a collection of items for a homeless shelter and the cards for the troops drive will continue through Nov. 20. An open house will be Oct. 17.
The chapter meets Mondays at 9:30 a.m. at First Christian Church, 1345 Potomac Ave. in Hagerstown.

A loss of more than 11 pounds made Judy G. the week’s thinner winner and led TOPS Chapter 0446 to a weekly net loss of 27.2 pounds.
Joann P. won the ha-ha prize.
Joyce presented a program on “See You in the Funnies,” which was about potholes along the road to weight loss.
