John Denning Vogel, 65, of Norwood Avenue, Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011, at his home.
He was born July 23, 1946, in Harrisburg, Pa., the son of the late Harry Denning Jr. and Helen Beasom Vogel.
John is survived by his wife, Katherine "Kate" Maloney Vogel.
Mr. Vogel was a graduate of Susquenita High School and Elizabethtown College. For many years he served in the U.S. Army Reserve. John also served for a time as a page in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Presently, he was the northern West Virginia regional sales manager for Humana's market point program. John was a former councilman on the Duncannon (Pa.) Borough Council. He was involved in softball and coached a number of teams in the Duncannon area. He was also a record aficionado, owning hundreds of records and often using his expertise to help others with his knowledge.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Heather V. Edwards, and her husband, Jonathan, of Martinsburg, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Tyler Jordan Vogel, Nathanael Alexander Edwards, Matthew Avery Edwards, Laken Gabriel Denning Edwards and Michael Thomas Vogel; one great-grandson, Keith Riley Curry Vogel, and a sister, Debra Cless, of New Bloomfield, Pa.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Kelly Lynne Vogel.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 8, at noon at the Monahan Funeral Home in Fairfield, Pa., with the Rev. Robert Malagesi officiating. Interment will be in Fairfield Union Cemetery. There will be a viewing at the funeral home Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
