Armed assailant assaults man, takes his money, medication

A man was taken to Meritus Medical Center after he was assaulted and robbed Wednesday evening in the 13000 block of Pine Hill Drive, the Washington County Sheriff's Office said.

The alleged victim, Frederick Sheldon Cade III, was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said Thursday morning.

Deputies said Cade told them that the incident happened shortly before 8:30 p.m., when an armed male approached him and stole money and prescription medication.

The type of weapon was not disclosed.

City Ruritan building damaged in vandalism

A Ruritan building at 21427 Leiter St., in Hagerstown was damaged during a malicious destruction of property incident  Saturday, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

A bathroom light and a door were damaged in the incident, which occurred at 3 p.m., the sheriff's office said.

Police said they have a suspect in the crime.



Thief takes cash from Europe Nails salon

Cash was stolen from Europe Nails at 17301 Valley Mall Road on Saturday, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

The money was stolen between 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., the sheriff's office said.

Police did not specify in a report how much money was stolen.

Investigators said they have a suspect in the theft.
