Revival planned

Second Christian Church, at 65 W. North Ave. in Hagerstown, will host a two-day October festival revival Thursday and Friday, Oct. 6 and 7, at 7 p.m.

 The theme is "The Church on One Accord with Christ."

 On Thursday, Oct. 6, the Rev. George Carter of Kingdom Christian Ministries  in Arlington, Va., will be the speaker, and on Friday, Oct. 7, the Rev. Ronald Paige of Spirit of Praise Ministry in Winchester, Va., will be the guest speaker.

Dinner planned

On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Second Christian Church, at 65 W. North Ave. in Hagerstown, will offer a choice of chicken, fish or barbecue ribs. The meal includes a choice of potato salad or macaroni and cheese, collard greens or green beans and/or bake beans. The meal comes with rolls, soda or water. The dessert is a choice of cake, apple pie or peach cobbler.

The meal costs $8.

Movie night

The movie "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" will be shown at Bridge of Life Church, 14 S. Potomac St. Saturday at 7 p.m.  

The free movie includes free popcorn and drinks.   

Women's retreat

Presiding Elder Darin Mency, Greater Campher Temple, 125 W. Bethel St., will speak at the Esther Women's Retreat Friday, Oct. 14, at the Quality Inn Hotel, 1095 Wayne Ave. in Chambersburg, Pa.

The event costs $35 (additional for night stay at hotel).

Costume party

On Sunday, Oct. 30, from 4 to 9 p.m., Hagerstown Sunrise Rotary will hold its 10th annual dinner and auction at Elks Lodge 378.

The event will include a costume party.

 The event is also being held by Boys & Girls Club of Washington County and Children's Village of Washington County.

Opening reception

On Saturday, from 6 to 8 p.m., there will be an opening reception at Contemporary School of the Arts & Gallery, Inc., at 4 W. Franklin St. in Hagerstown.

The new exhibit titled "A Passion for Photography, Three Points of View" features the works of Howard Clark, Larry Dean and Judy Mac Arthur.

The event will include music and light refreshments.

Community yard sale

Haven Lutheran Church, at 1035 Haven Road in Hagerstown, will hold its third annual community yard and bake sale Saturday from 8 am to 2 p.m. to benefit Holly Place and Micah's Backpacks (a food supplement program for children in need).

There will also be a bake sale and chicken barbecue, prepared by the North Hagerstown Lions Club.
