Mr. Jeff from Washington County Free Library will be at Valley Mall on Thursday, Oct. 6, from 11 to 11:45 a.m. for story time.

Mr. Jeff will be in the rear of the Food Court area the first Thursday of each month.

Job fair planned

A fall job fair titled “Putting the Tri-State Back to Work” will be held at Valley Mall on Friday, Oct. 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event is a partnership with Washington County One-Stop Job Center, Hagerstown Community College and The Herald-Mail Co.

Dance contest planned

Auditions for the Just Dance Contest for ages 13 to 18 will be held at Valley Mall Saturday, Oct. 8, beginning at 10 a.m. in Center Court by Bon-Ton.

Those who advance will participate in the dance contest Saturday, Oct. 22, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Center Court. Winner of the event will receive a cash prize.

WHS to host band event

The Williamsport High School Blue Band and the Williamsport Band Boosters will host a Tournament of Bands event Saturday, Oct. 8, at noon at the football field at the school.

Area bands will present their field show and compete for highest score in sound, technical skill, precision of movement and visual presentation.

Tickets cost $6 for adults and $4 for students and seniors. Gold Cards will be honored.

The concession stand will be open and there will also be a retail row, selling programs and air-, candy- and flower-grams, to support the band students.

Chicken barbecue

 The Lions Club of Halfway will hold a chicken barbecue Saturday, Oct. 8, at Old Orchard Shopping Center on Virginia Avenue in Halfway.   

Basket bingo

On Sunday, Oct. 23, a Longerberger basket bingo will be held at the Order of Red Men Lodge 84 on Lappans Road in Williamsport.

Doors open at 11 a.m,. lunch will be served at noon, and the 25 games begin at 1 p.m. All baskets will be filled.

Seats are limited. For tickets, call Carrie at 301-582-8236. Participants must be 18 years old to play. Proceeds benefit the Habitat for Humanity Women Build program.

Harvest Hoedown planned

Harvest Hoedown will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Byron Memorial Park. The event, sponsored by the Williamsport Ministerium, includes children’s games, pumpkin painting, live music, food and other activities.

Proceeds benefit the Williamsport Food Bank. Canned-food donations will be accepted.
