Cascade Elementary welcomes new staff members

Cascade Elementary School welcomes the following new faces to the school staff:  

Teresa Rowland, first-grade teacher; Jeanette Horst, fourth-grade teacher; Kevin Reynolds, physical education teacher; Larry Marcille, student achievement specialist; Melvin Phillips, head custodian; and Mary McCreary, food service assistant.

Valley Art Association plans exhibit   

Valley Art Association will hold an art exhibit from Friday to Oct. 30 at the Mansion House Art Center, 501 Highland Way in Hagerstown’s City Park.  

The Mansion House is open Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m.  

A reception by the Wednesday Painting Group will be held Sunday, Oct. 9, from 2 to 4 p.m. in Mansion House’s North Gallery.

Trip to Philadelphia planned for Oct. 7

The Continuing Education and Community Services Division at Hagerstown Community College is offering a one-day trip to visit American historical sites in Philadelphia on Friday, Oct. 7.       

On the one-day tour, participants will visit the National Constitution Center, Singers Hall, Independence Hall and other sites.

En route, the importance of the American Revolution and its impact will be discussed.

Cost is $96. The fee includes fully equipped motor-coach transportation/gratuity, all entrance/tour fees, and the en-route lecture by HCC instructor and historian Roger Swartz.
