HCC to offer writing workshop

The Continuing Education and Community Services Division at Hagerstown Community College will offer a one-day workshop, "The Culture and Courage of Writing," Saturday, Oct. 29, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Career Programs Building on HCC's main campus.

Featuring award-winning authors Gail Barrett and Susan Donovan, and HCC faculty member Amanda Miller, the workshop will consist of a morning and afternoon session. Barrett and Donovan will lead the morning session as they explore the discussion topic, "Writing through the Fear." Miller, an assistant professor of English at HCC, will end the morning session with her seminar, "Finding the Authentic Voice."

Following the morning session, which will be held on HCC's main campus, participants will be taken by bus to Turn the Page Bookstore in Boonsboro, where a group book signing with Barrett, Donovan and author Nora Roberts will be held. Participants will eat lunch at Vesta Pizzeria & Family Restaurant in Boonsboro.

The cost is $72, which includes continental breakfast, seminars, motor-coach transportation to Boonsboro and the book signing. Lunch is not included.
