Mrs. Elizabeth Kay “Libby” Bowers, 61, of Myersville, died unexpectedly Saturday at her home.

She was the wife of James Bowers for 35 years and was predeceased by her first husband, Marvin Russell Heatherly.

Born in Frederick, July 9, 1950, she was a daughter of Lucille Bowser Wiles, Myersville, and the late Charles Ellsworth “Hambone” Wiles.

She was employed in the restaurant business for many years and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown, where she taught Sunday school for 17 years.

She was also a member of Middletown Valley People Helping People.

She was a very caring and compassionate person.

Surviving, besides her mother and husband, are two daughters, Mary Heatherly and friend, Tom Tobery, of Williamsport, and Lisa Montgomery and friend, Sherrill Schultz, of Hagerstown; two granddaughters, Reva Heatherly of Myersville and Kaylyn Horner of Smithsburg; one great-grandson, Russell Heatherly of Myersville; and one brother, Chuck Wiles of Myersville.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, 107 W. Main St., Middletown. The Rev. Kathy Vitalis Hoffman will officiate. Interment will be made in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown.
