Park at Dark set for Oct. 21

The Washington County Recreation Department will hold The Park at Dark on Friday, Oct. 21, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Doub’s Woods Park.

The event is an age-appropriate activity suited for those ages 2 to 11. The low/medium scare event is geared for younger children.

Children’s games will be played and there will be a costume contest. Prizes will be awarded to the scariest, funniest, most creative, best look-a-like, youngest, oldest and best of show. Don’t forget to bring spare clothes for the scarecrow-making activity.

Tickets are limited, so register early. Anyone 2 years old and older must have a ticket to enter.  Children younger than 2 can attend for free as long as they are accompanied by a paid participant.

Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Tickets must be purchased in advance. No tickets will be sold at the gate.

Use the Maryland Avenue entrance to the park.

Spiritual renewal weekend planned

A spiritual renewal weekend will be held Friday to Sunday at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 802 Summit Ave. in Hagerstown.

It begins Friday at 6:30 p.m.  

Nursery services will be provided. The public is invited.

South High homecoming

South Hagerstown High’s homecoming is Friday. All classes are invited to tailgate before the game, beginning at 5 p.m.

The game begins at 7 p.m. at School Stadium.

Tailgaters should use the rear entrance (enter from Maryland Avenue) and can set up near the bus circle.

Hagerstown Lioness Club

The regular meeting of the Hagerstown Lioness Club will be Thursday, Oct. 6, at the Academy Theatre & Conference Center in Hagerstown.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.

Members are asked to bring sold and unsold Royal Treatment tickets, and Bon-Ton coupon tickets and/or money.

The guest speaker will be Tony Dahbura, whose topic will be “Civility.”
