GREENCASTLE, Pa. — The United Way of Franklin County, Pa., hosted a Sportsman’s Bonanza fundraiser Sunday in which ticket holders had opportunities to win a car, a leather recliner, gift certificates and hunting gear.

More than 200 people attended the Sportsman’s Bonanza at Green Grove Gardens off Pa. 16 east of Greencastle.

“We had a lot of participation from local businesses providing raffle items, silent- auction items and prizes for the event,” said Amy Hicks, executive director of the United Way of Franklin County.

In September, the United Way of Franklin County announced a $750,000 goal for its campaign ending Feb. 14, 2012. Early collection efforts yielded 20 percent of that goal by the time the announcement was made publicly.

This year’s Sportsman’s Bonanza was the second for the United Way of Franklin County. Hicks said she expects a similar event to be planned for next year.
