Emerson S. Barron, 85, of Hagerstown, Md., and formerly of Williamsport, Md., died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born Oct. 9, 1925, in Somerset, Pa., he was the son of the late Ira and Anna Belle (Baltzer) Barron.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Johnson Barron; his second wife, Evelyn Maphis Barron; a son, A. Scott Barron; a son-in-law, Darrell Beery; five brothers; and two sisters.

He is survived by a sister, Virginia McAlister of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter, Linda Heinrich and husband, Brian, of Hagerstown; daughter, Nancy Davis and husband, Steve, of Romney, W.Va.; son, Randall Barron and wife, Teresa, of Williamsport; and daughter-in-law, Sarah Barron Baldwin of Lancaster, Pa. He also is survived by grandchildren, Darrell Brent Beery and wife, Amber, of ShenZhen, China, Ben Heinrich and wife, Megan, of Myersville, Md., Brian Nicholas Heinrich of Hagerstown, Joseph Davis of Winchester, Va., Susan Braithwaite and husband, Chuck, of Capon Bridge, W.Va., Jennifer Davis of Capon Bridge, Misty Barron of Williamsport, Blake Barron of Williamsport, Ryan Barron and wife, Holly, of Milton, Del., and Leaha Pittman and husband, Jeromy, of Minneola, Fla.; and great-grandchildren, Carter and Owen Barron, and Maranda Pittman. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, and cherished friends.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II as a right gunner on a B-29 in the South Pacific.

In 1973, Emerson established Red Barron Furniture and Carpet Sales in Williamsport with his sons.

He was a member of Masonic Lodge 217, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He enjoyed discussing politics and was very proud to be an American.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
