Raymond Garfield Campbell Sr., 68, of Corbett Street in Hagerstown, Md., passed away Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown.
Born Friday, April 16, 1943, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Albert Campbell and the late Jane (Dorsey) Campbell.
He was a graduate of South Hagerstown High School.
He was employed by General Motors, retiring after 28 years of service.
Raymond was a member of Ebenezer AME Church in Hagerstown.
He is survived by his daughters, Jane E. Campbell of Hagerstown, Tawanna M. Campbell of Frederick, Md., and Vicki D. Campbell of Hagerstown; sons, Michael R. Campbell, Marlin E. Campbell and Raymond G. Campbell Jr., all of Hagerstown; special nephew, Chris K. Russ of Hagerstown; sisters, Clara J. Broadus and Dorothy E. Bell, both of Hagerstown; very good friends, Corey Diehl and Hope Socks, both of Hagerstown; 23 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, William A. Campbell and George Smith Campbell.
Services will be Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011, at noon, at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Leroy Jackson officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011, from 10 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.
