Road and lane closures for Wednesday, Sept. 21:

* The left shoulder and one lane of the U.S. 340 bridge across the Potomac River near Harpers Ferry, W.Va., are subject to closure for removal of a containment system underneath the bridge, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration's website. Closure is expected to remain in effect until Thursday, Sept. 22, between 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. each day.

* All lanes of both northbound and southbound Interstate 81 will be subject to closure at Exit 1 to Md. 63 near Williamsport for sign lighting, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration's website. Closure is expected to remain in effect until Thursday, Oct. 13, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. each day.

* The left shoulder and right shoulder of Md. 67 in both directions will be subject to closure at Frog Eye Road between Weverton and Brownsville for invert paving, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration's website. Closure is expected to remain in effect until Friday, Oct. 14, between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. each day.

* The left shoulder and one lane of eastbound Interstate 70 is subject to closure over Exit 24 to Greencastle Pike (Md. 63) to repair a crack, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration's website. Closure is expected to remain in effect until Sunday, Oct. 2, between 7 p.m. and 4 a.m. each day.

* The left shoulder and one lane of eastbound I-70  is subject to closure over Exit 29 to South Potomac Street/Sharpsburg Pike (Md. 65) to repair a crack, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration's website. Closure is expected to remain in effect until Sunday, Oct. 2, between 7 p.m. and 4 a.m. each day.

* The bridge at the intersection of Mount Tabor and Rush Run roads will be closed until mid-November while the bridge deck is replaced. Motorists are advised to use the Spade Road detour.

* Work to expand the intersection of Massey Boulevard and Halfway Boulevard near Hagerstown continues, causing traffic to be backed up in each direction at different times. Roadwork is expected to continue there until Thanksgiving.

* Work to widen the intersection of Dual Highway and Edgewood Drive continues. Traffic is sometimes sluggish in both directions.

* Only one lane of Md. 550 in Thurmont, Md., is open between Eylers Valley Flint Road and Kelbaugh Road due to a mudslide that occurred April 17. The Maryland State Highway Administration says it is unsure when the road will completely reopen.
