House fire on Security Road was intentionally set, authorities say

Blaze caused $50,000 in damages

HAGERSTOWN — Authorities said a fire that caused about $50,000 in damages to a house early Wednesday on Security Road near Hagerstown was intentionally set.

The fire started at about 12:36 a.m. on the concrete rear deck of a house at 1036 Security Road, according to a Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office news release.

Officials estimated the fire caused $45,000 in damages to the house and $5,000 in damages to the contents.

It took 32 firefighters from Hagerstown, Longmeadow and Washington County about 25 minutes to bring the blaze under control, the fire marshal’s office said.

The fire marshal’s office said the home, which is owned by Frank Sagi, was occupied by Jodi Tarmer.
