The Maryland Symphony Orchestra has named 16 finalists that will compete Friday for the opportunity to sing a solo with the MSO during its annual "Home for the Holidays" concerts in December.
The competition will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at The Maryland Theatre in downtown Hagerstown.
General admission is $5 at the door. No advance tickets will be sold.
The finalists are:
- Sophie Abeles, eighth-grader, Northern Middle School
- Alexis Barone, junior, St. Maria Goretti High School
- Elizabeth Buscher, freshman, Washington High School
- Hannah Colella, freshman, St. Maria Goretti High School
- Caitlin Cremins, sophomore, Mercersburg Academy
- Emma Godfrey, junior, Mountain Ridge High School
- Grace Guiney, sophomore, Jefferson High School
- Bailey Hovermale, eighth-grader, Smithsburg Middle School
- Nicole Lambert, senior, Barbara Ingram School for the Arts
- Ryan Smetzer, junior, Barbara Ingram School for the Arts
- Julia Thompson, senior, Barbara Ingram School for the Arts
- Louisa Tringali, senior, Gov. Thomas Johnson High School
- Travis Thorpe, senior, Barbara Ingram School for the Arts
- Ashley Warfield, senior, Barbara Ingram School for the Arts
- Laken Weaver, junior, Catoctin High School
- Taylor Zentz, freshman, Catoctin High School.
The winner will be announced at the MSO Pops Concert, "Wicked Divas," at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at The Maryland Theatre.
