Two Hagerstown women have been charged in connection with the burglary of a home Monday night.

Audrey Renee Haupt, 35, and Jessica Lynn White, 28, both of 551 W. Church St., were charged with one count each of first-degree burglary, third-degree burglary, fourth-degree burglary and theft over $1,000, according to a Hagerstown Police Department news release.

Police said they are not releasing the address of the residence to prevent further burglaries.

Officers said they responded to the house at 10:07 p.m. and found a gray Jeep driving away. The vehicle was stopped and White was identified as the driver. Police said a subsequent search of the Jeep turned up items that were stolen from the residence.

Haupt was found hiding in a closet while the house was being searched by police, according to the release.
