HAGERSTOWN — One person was taken to the hospital Tuesday morning following a traffic accident on Longmeadow Road just east of Pennsylvania Avenue, Deputy 1st Class Bryan Teets of the Washington County Sheriff's Department said.

The accident happened when a Ford pickup truck trying to cross from the North Village Shopping Center to the Sheetz convenience store on the other side of Longmeadow Road pulled out in front of a Honda Accord heading eastbound, Teets said.

The driver of the Accord was taken by Hagerstown Community Rescue Service ambulance to Meritus Medical Center with minor injuries, Teets said.

There were no passengers in the Accord, he said.

The Ford pickup truck was able to be driven from the scene, Teets said.

Police responded to the accident at 11:11 a.m. and blocked off the eastbound side of Longmeadow Rad upon arriving on the scene. It reopened after the Accord was towed away and the scene was cleared at 11:55 a.m.

A firetruck from the Longmeadow Volunteer Fire Co. was also on the scene.

Police have not yet released the names of the people involved in the accident.
