Hearing set on Washington Co. ethics ordinance

September 19, 2011

A public hearing will be held Tuesday on a proposed Washington County Ethics Ordinance that would replace the county’s current ethics ordinance, the county said in a press release.

The hearing will be held at 2 p.m. during the Board of County Commissioners’ regular weekly meeting in room 227 of 100 West Washington St., in Hagerstown.

The State Ethics Commission has issued new regulations concerning local ethics ordinances, and the adoption of the proposed new ordinance is necessary in order to ensure compliance with state law, Assistant County Attorney Kirk C. Downey has said.

Copies of the proposed revised ordinance are available for review in the County Commissioners Office, room 226 of 100 W. Washington St., and on the county’s website at www.washco-md.net under the “Latest News” link.
