HCC student Frederickson awarded Kline scholarship

Hagerstown Community College student Kenneth Frederickson of Hagerstown recently won the Helen and Gene Kline Scholarship for the fall 2011 semester.  

The scholarship is an endowed scholarship awarded annually through the Community Foundation of Washington County.

Recipients must be an HCC student majoring in education or engineering, have a grade-point average of 2.0 or higher, and demonstrate a commitment to higher education.  

Frederickson, 19, has a 3.74 GPA and is double-majoring in mathematics and engineering.

He started at HCC as a mathematics major before discovering an interest in engineering during his freshman year.

Frederickson will complete his mathematics degree in spring 2012 and his engineering degree the following fall.

After graduation, Frederickson plans to transfer to a four-year school to complete his bachelor’s degree, with the hopes of one day working in the engineering field.
