Area students receive scholarships from Frostburg State U.

FROSTBURG, Md. — Frostburg State University has announced the following area students received scholarships for study at the University:

Christine Barnes of Williamsport received the Verizon Scholarships for Education Students Program and Talent in the Arts Scholarship IV. Barnes is the daughter of Julie and Ed Lough, and attended Williamsport High School.

Jennifer Fox of Hancock received the Ida B. Wells Student and Education Scholarship. Fox is the daughter of Wayne and Jeannie Fox, and attended Hancock Middle-Senior High School.

James Ledwell of Middletown, Md., received the Hedrick Teacher Excellence Award for Math/Science. Ledwell attended Wheaton High School.

Amanda McAllister of Hagerstown received the Hammond Pursuit of Excellence Scholarship in memory of Eleanor Anna Hammond. McAllister is the daughter of Robert and Janet Michael, and attended North Hagerstown High School.

Jacob McDonald of Frederick, Md., received the Academic Leadership Scholarship and Talent in the Arts Scholarship III. McDonald is the son of Heidi McDonald, and attended Gov. Thomas Johnson High School.

Daniel Miller of Thurmont, Md., received the Walter and Elmira Hahn Memorial Scholarship-Frederick County Award. Miller is the son of Roger and Tonyia Miller, and attended Catoctin High School.

Matthew Shriver of Smithsburg received the Hedrick Teacher Excellence Award for Math/Science. Shriver is the son of Ray and Sherryl Shriver, and attended Smithsburg High School.

Katrina Villegas of Frederick received the Hedrick Teacher Excellence Award for Math/Science. Villegas attended Georgetown High School.
