Richard Milton McCleary, 80, of 17030 Hillsdale Court, Hagerstown, Md., passed away Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown.

Born Wednesday, July 15, 1931, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late Eli Hale McCleary and the late Naomi Pearl Hahn McCleary.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Jean McCleary, in 1980, and by his second wife, Doris Hattie McCleary, in 2009.

He was employed with Teledyne/Landis Tool Co., retiring after 30 years of service, and later employed with the state of Maryland. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his daughters, Robin Lynn Shaffer and Pamela Jean Green, both of Hagerstown; brother, Marvin E. McCleary of Hagerstown; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Raymond Earl McCleary and Robert L. McCleary; and stepbrother, James M. Yeager.

Services will be Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at 10 a.m. at  Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, with Pastor Robert V. Robinson officiating.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
