Danielle Cook opened a lemonade stand June 18 at the home of Traci Weaver, a friend of the family.

For several hours, Danielle, 7, operated her stand and sold $131 worth of lemonade. Danielle donated the money to Washington County's U.S. Marine Corps League's Toys for Tots program.

Danielle was honored Sept. 6 by the local Marine Corps League at its regular meeting.

She was awarded a certificate of appreciation, which recognized her initiative, leadership, friendliness, courtesy, hard work and dedication.

Carl Lenhart, commandant of the Marine Corps League, read the certificate, and Jay Koch, associate member, presented the certificate to Danielle.

Danielle's parents, Tracy and Herbert Cook, also were in attendance.

Danielle, a student at Fountaindale Elementary School, is a member of Zion Baptist Church, which is a Toys for Tots contributor. She also is a member of the Washington County Boys & Girls Club.
