Hagerstown Suns release 2012 schedule

BASEBALL

The beginning and the end will come at the same location for the Hagerstown Suns next season.

The Suns will open and close their 32nd season at Municipal Stadium, according the their 2012 schedule that was announced on Wednesday.

Hagerstown will open its 140-game schedule with a seven-game homestand, beginning on April 5 against West Virginia. After four games with the Power, Lexington comes in to close the opening series.

The Suns will end the season during Labor Day weekend with a four-game set with Asheville with the final regular-season game being played on Sept. 3.

Hagerstown will play holiday home games on July 4 and Labor Day.



GIRLS SOCCER

FSK 6, South Hagerstown 0

Jordan Fine scored three goals and Karleigh Murphey had four assists to lead Francis Scott Key (1-0) past South Hagerstown (0-3) on Tuesday.



BOYS SOCCER

Broadfording 5, New Life 1

Andy Torres and Jared Morris had two goals and an assist each on Tuesday to lead Broadfording Christian Academy to a Mason Dixon Christian Conference victory over New Life.

Andrew Grimm added an assist for the Lions (5-3).



PREP VOLLEYBALL

Shalom 3, Faith 0

Natasha Gibble scored 12 aces and five kills on Tuesday to lead Shalom to a 25-6, 25-4, 25-11 victory over Faith Christian.

Gibble finished with 19 service points to go with five assists, while Steph Bricker added 12 service points with six aces while adding two digs.

Ashlyn Bland had seven points — including four aces — five kills and two digs. Kristen Blank had five assists and five points and Brianna Oberholzer added five points and three aces.
