Film to be shown at library Sept. 23
Local filmmaker Neon Reel Entertainment will show its short film “The Black-Eyed Children” at Smithsburg Library Friday, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m. A question-and-answer session will follow the movie.
The movie theme: Still reeling from the death of her father, an emotionally fragile young woman grapples with the unexplained appearance of two unearthly children.
The film was the 2011 Official Selection at the HorrorFind Film Festival in Gettysburg, Pa.

Sign language course offered
Have you ever wanted to learn sign language skills?  
On Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 6 p.m., participants can take a free beginner’s class at the Smithsburg Library.
Experienced signer Mary Jo Palmer will teach participants basic American Sign Language skills, such as finger spelling, numbers, holidays and other items. The class is for all ages — no experience required.
