Blood drive planned at St. Mark's Church

A Red Cross blood drive will be held Wednesday, Sept. 28, from 1 to 7 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.

The church is at 601 Washington Ave. in Hagerstown.

All donors will receive a free Chick-fil-A sandwich coupon. Soup/chili will be provided to donors as well.

‘The Blind Side’ to be shown Oct. 1

The movie “The Blind Side” will be shown Saturday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.

The movie will be shown in the church parking lot.

The movie is free and popcorn and drinks will be provided. The public is invited.

It will be held rain or shine. It will be moved indoors in case of inclement weather.

West Hagerstown Lions Club news

The West Hagerstown Lions Club and other area Lions Clubs will sell a variety of foods at the Volvo Powertrain Power Day Open House  Saturday, celebrating Volvo’s 50 years in Hagerstown. West Hagerstown will be selling Italian sausage and cheese steak sandwiches.  All clubs will sell soda and bottled water.

The club is taking orders for ham sandwiches.  Baked ham sandwiches cost $2 and country ham sandwiches cost $2.50 each.

The club’s indoor yard sale on Aug. 20 was successful, and the Lions plan to hold another one.  

The club had its family picnic Aug. 1, and club members attended the Rouzerville picnic on Sept. 6.
