Children's race planned

 The Washington County Recreation Department will host a 1-mile youth cross-country run Saturday at Washington County Regional Park near Black Rock Golf Course.

Participants may sign up individually and will not associate with a school or area.

All registered participants will receive a ribbon. Check-in and registration will begin at 8:15 a.m. on the day of the race. The race will begin at 9 a.m. Call the weather hotline at 240-313-2811 for program cancellations on the day of the event.

Community Rescue plans picnic Sunday

Community Rescue of Hagerstown will host a duty shift picnic Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Doubs Woods Park, middle arts pavilion. Anyone who is or was a member of Co. 75 is invited to attend at no cost.

Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP  by calling Allison at 301-797-2173. The picnic is for adults only.

Bark in the Park  

Bark in the Park is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Jonathan Hager House Museum grounds in Hagerstown’s City Park. Registration will be from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by a blessing of the animals at 10 a.m. A Paws on the Path Walk will be held after the blessing.

Lions celebrate charter

The Lions Club of Halfway will celebrate the 54th anniversary of its charter today at the Plaza Hotel in Halfway.
