Dispute involving shotgun leads to charges

SHARPSBURG — A Sharpsburg man was arrested Tuesday after a family dispute involving a firearm on Mills Road, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said.

Ethan Allen Moore Churchey, 25, of 4209 Mills Road, was charged with reckless endangerment, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Deputies responded to the scene at 1:33 p.m. for a report of a family dispute that involved a firearm, the release said.

They determined that an argument over personal property had occurred between Desirae Churchey and Churchey, who is her brother, the release said.

Desirae Churchey alleged that her brother retrieved a shotgun from a house and fired a round in response to the argument, the release said.


Boys who fled area children’s home sought

Authorities are searching for two boys who allegedly stole a van and fled from the Cedar Ridge Children’s Home on Monday, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said.

Malik Smith, 14, and Derrell Payne, 16, both of Baltimore, are accused of taking a white 2008 Chevrolet Express passenger van that belonged to the home at about 1 p.m. Monday, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

The sheriff’s office said the van was recovered Monday evening inHoward County, Md.

Pa. man charged with public drunkeness

A Chambersburg, Pa., man who was found lying on Boyer Mill Road earlier this week has been charged with public drunkeness, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Timothy John Tiedemann, 53, of 3825 Jacks Mill Road in Chambersburg, was found lying on Boyer Mill Road at about 11:35 p.m. Monday, according to a state police news release.

Troopers said Tiedemann was issued a citation and taken to Chambersburg Hospital.

The following incidents were reported Tuesday by Franklin County (Pa.) Emergency Services:

  • At 3:35 p.m., a traffic accident in the 800 block of Lincoln Way West in Hamilton Township.
  • At 4:35 p.m., a traffic accident in the 200 block of West Baltimore Street in Greencastle.
  • At 7:20 p.m., a traffic accident in the first block of North Main Street in Mercersburg.
