BIG POOL — A tractor-trailer knocked over a telephone pole Tuesday afternoon on Big Pool Road just north of I-70, CPL Jim Grinnan of the Maryland State Police said. Nobody was injured.

The accident happened when the tractor-trailer was turning around in front of 11023 Big Pool Road and caught a wire on the northbound side of the road, causing the telephone pole to be knocked over, Grinnan said.

Wires were down on both sides of the road.

Police responded to the accident at 11:12 a.m. Tuesday and blocked off Big Pool Road at the 11000 block.

A worker from Verizon had arrived on the scene at 12:15 p.m. and moved the pole to the side of the road, but he said it can't be fixed or worked on until his crew arrives.

The road was reopened after police cleared the scene at 12:24 p.m.
