HANCOCK — Bishop Walsh used a spread attack Monday night, scoring six touchdowns in a 40-7 romp over Hancock.
Senior quarterback Greg Hendershot tossed three touchdowns — including scores of 46 and 52 yards — and threw for 265 yards against the Panthers (0-2).
The Spartans took a 22-7 lead into halftime, as the first half was ghastly for Hancock. The Panthers turned the ball over twice and were caught napping during an ensuing kickoff that the Spartans recovered.
The bright spot for Hancock in the first half was Garrett Wiles’ 10-yard TD pass to Nate Souders in the second quarter.
Bishop Walsh scored first on Billy Conroy’s 17-yard touchdown scamper, then made a two-point conversion to go up 8-0. The Spartans added another touchdown on Hendershot’s 46-yard touchdown pass to Terrell McGraw and converted another two-point attempt.
A 30-yard pass by Hendershot to Liam Rhodes set up a 9-yard touchdown run by McGraw for a 22-0 lead.
A 5-yard touchdown run by Quincy Redman put Bishop Walsh up 28-7 in the third quarter. Hendershot’s 52-yard touchdown pass to Rhodes put the Spartans ahead by 27 later in the quarter.
McGraw broke free on a 30-yard run that capped the Spartans’ scoring.
