Police looking for woman in attempted robbery
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Police are looking for a female who attempted to rob a woman Monday afternoon outside the Michaels arts and crafts store in The Commons shopping center.
Dressed in a red sweat shirt and black pants, the suspect is estimated to weigh between 100 and 120 pounds and her blond hair was in a ponytail when the incident happened in the parking lot at about 1:30 p.m., according to Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Gary Harmison.
The suspect asked the woman for directions and then demanded her purse, according to Harmison.
The woman refused to give her purse to the suspect, who then grabbed the victim’s arm and said she had a gun, according to Harmison.
The victim screamed and the suspect fled in a shiny black convertible two-door car, which had a temporary registration beginning with “7T” or “T7,” according to Harmison. The state registration was not known, according to Harmison.
