Deadline to run in Clear Spring election looms

CLEAR SPRING — Residents interested in running for mayor of Clear Spring or one of two town council seats have until Oct. 3 to submit nominations for the 2011 election.

Nominations can be submitted at Town Hall between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, or between 7 and 9 p.m. Oct. 3, Town Clerk Juanita Grim said.

Candidates for mayor must be 21 years old and have been a resident of the town for two years, Mayor Paul D. Hose Jr. said.

Candidates for the town council must be 18 years old and have been a resident of the town for two years, he said.

Clear Spring will hold its annual election Nov. 7 from 2 to 7 p.m. at Town Hall, Grimm said.

Hose, and council members Theodore “Teddy” and Carol Hovermale are up for re-election this year.

Hose and Teddy Hovermale said they have not decided if they will run again.
Carol Hovermale said she probably will seek re-election.

Clear Spring holds an annual election, Grimm said.

Terms for council members, mayor and vice mayor in Clear Spring are two years.

The council meets on the second Monday of every month at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.
