Box trailer fire at FedEx Ground facility quickly brought under control

September 12, 2011

A box trailer caught fire at FedEx Ground on 11825 Newgate Blvd. Monday morning, according to Maryland State Fire Marshal Deputy Chief Jason Mowbray.

Nobody was injured.

$500 worth of damage was done to the box trailer, and $3,000 worth of damage was done to the contents in the trailer, Mowbray said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

"We are seeing if something in the contents could have caused the fire," Mowbray said. "The vehicle contained a shipment of products from Los Angeles."

The fire was reported at 7:33 a.m. Firefighters from the Volunteer Fire Company of Halfway and the Williamsport Volunteer Fire Co. were on the scene.

It took five minutes for firefighters to get the situation under control.

The scene was cleared at 8:51 a.m., according to Mowbray.
