Loretta Mary Sobus, 96, of Williamsport, Md. and formerly of Hagerstown, Md., and Baltimore, Md., passed away Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at Williamsport Retirement Center, Williamsport.
Born March 29, 1915, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary Woods Mannion.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Sobus, in 1981.
She was a graduate of Seton High School, Baltimore.
She retired from the Baltimore City Police Department, working 25 years as a crossing guard.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Halfway, Md. She was a member of St. Michael's Women's Auxiliary in Baltimore.
Survivors include: son, John M. Sobus and his wife, Jean, of Moaton, Pa.; son, Casmir C. Sobus and his wife, Cathy, of Hagerstown; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Sobus of Baltimore.
She was preceded in death by two sons, James C. Sobus and Michael Sobus.
The family will receive friends at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, MD 21795 Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. For the convenience of family and friends, the funeral home will be open Monday after noon.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 17630 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740, Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Christopher Moore as celebrant. Interment will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, 6515 Boston St., Baltimore.
