September 11, 2011

BOONSBORO — A Boonsboro man faces weapons charges after Maryland State Police and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a “shots fired” call in the area of North Main Street around 5:35 a.m. Sunday, police said.

Robert Broadbent, 28, of 50 Saint Paul St. in Boonsboro, was being held Sunday afternoon in the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of a $10,000 bond, authorities said.

A second call to 911 reported a man in camouflage, carrying a shotgun on Saint Paul Street in Boonsboro on Sunday morning, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

Deputies found a man in possession of a shotgun, a small handgun, several knives and ammunition for the guns, police said.

Sheriff’s office and Hagerstown Police officials believe the incident is not related to one that occurred Saturday night in Hagerstown’s North End.

In that incident, Woodrow Allen Carmack III was charged with reckless endangerment and weapons charges after police found a man carrying a duffel bag that contained an AK-47 assault rifle and lots of ammunition.
