Norman A. Murray, 75, of Bunker Hill, W.Va., passed from this life Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, while surrounded by his family at his daughter's home in Boonsboro, Md.

Born June 22, 1936, in Barre, Vt., he was the son of the late Louis and Jessie Hammerli.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Norman was a baptized member of Greenridge Baptist Church near Clarksburg, Md., and attended the Bethesda-Chevy Chase School in Bethesda, Md.

He worked as a truck driver for Standard Building Systems and most recently with Rockville Fuel and Feed Co.

Norman will be fondly remembered for his love of travel and riding his scooter.

He is survived by his wife, Doris A. (Palmer) Murray; his former wife, Emma Murray of Frederick, Md.; his five children, Keith Murray of Jefferson, Md., Alex Murray of Thurmont, Md., Victoria Murray of Boonsboro, Rory Murray, and Kelly Murray of Bunker Hill; three stepdaughters, Tina Desjardins, Rita Dodson and her husband, Robert, and Loretta Blair and her husband, David, all of Bunker Hill; three grandchildren, Michael Selby, Gregory Murray and Allyson Murray; and six stepgrandchildren, Stacy Poston, Sony Poston, Steven Desjardins, Shelby Desjardins, Justin Dodson and Kayla Dodson.

A memorial service will be Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011, at 3 p.m. at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Warren Rice will officiate.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
