Mary Jane Smith Flurie, 89, born in Funkstown, Md., to John K. Smith and Elsie Rockwell Smith, expired Wednesday, July 27, 2011, in Naples, Fla.

She was a member of Christ Reformed Church and Dixon-Troxell American Legion Post 211, both of Funkstown.

She was employed by Antietam Motors for 10 years, and by the Department of Motor Vehicles, both in Hagerstown, Md. She retired from Health Food Store in Greencastle, Pa.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Charles E. Flurie of Naples; and her daughter Tina Parsons and son-in-law, Franklin Parsons, of Naples. She was a loving and devoted grandmother to her four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She also is survived by three sisters, Elsie Evans of Funkstown, Josephine Stouffer of Arlington, Va., and Alice Kercheval of Hagerstown; and her brother, John R. Smith of Hagerstown.

She cherished the memories of her two daughters who preceded her in death, Sally Jean Kline and Jennifer Flurie. Siblings who preceded her in death were Carrie E. Sterling, Helen Williams, Charles Smith and Paul E. Smith.

At her request, cremation services were respectfully handled by Fuller Funeral Home, Naples. The family will hold private services.  

She requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Heart and Lung Association or to American Cancer Society, 5020 Tamiami Trail N 108, Naples, FL 34103.
