Cronise Market Place plans expansion in Boonsboro

BOONSBORO — Cronise Market Place at 312 S. Main St. plans to expand.

The Boonsboro Town Council agreed Tuesday to rezone an adjacent property, at 310 S. Main St., from residential to commercial.

Owners Bonnie and Cliff Pereschuk requested the change so the business could expand into an adjacent building, which they also own.

Bonnie Pereschuk said the move would help Cronise Market Place operate year-round. The market sells produce, flowers, crafts, jellies and furniture.

Currently, the business is outside and closes in the winter.

Bonnie Pereschuk said in an interview after the council's vote that the expanded business would have more natural and organic products, and more home decor.

In a statement she read to the council, she said the expansion would help the town's tax base and increase tourism.

Cliff Pereschuk said the couple would put up a sign encouraging customers to park in a lot instead of in spaces along the road.

Two nearby residents said during the public hearing that they have no objections to the proposed expansion.

Town Planner Megan Clark told the town council that it could rezone a property if there has been a substantial change in the neighborhood or if there was a mistake in the original zoning.
