Children's center accepting students

Open Arms Christian Child Development Center at Concordia Lutheran Church has started an afternoon three-hour class for 3- and 4-year-olds. Classes began on Sept. 6 for those attending three days a week and Sept. 7 for those who attend two days per week. There is still time to register. Concordia Lutheran Church is at 17906 Garden Lane, Hagerstown.

Lions Club of Halfway to celebrate charter  

The Lions Club of Halfway will celebrate the 45th anniversary of its charter on Thursday, Sept. 15, at the Plaza Hotel in Halfway. District Gov. Stephen Finger will be in attendance. The guest speaker will be Curt Gual from the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park at the Williamsport center.

Next up on the Lions Club’s agenda is a chicken barbecue in support of the Volvo Powertrain Open House on Saturday, Sept. 17.

Autumn Arts Festival

The fifth annual Autumn Arts Festival will be held at Hagerstown’s City Park Saturday, Sept. 17 and Sunday, Sept. 18. The event will include Appalachian-style music and food. Admission is free. Hager House tours are also planned with a reduced admission fee. The event begins at 10 a.m. on both days.


Home show planned at mall

The All Things Home Show will be held at Valley Mall Friday, Sept. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 1, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day. Home improvement, antiques and home decor displays will be set up in the mall.
