Hawks earn first victory of the season

ARNOLD, Md. — Paige Kitchen had 35 assists to lead Hagerstown Community College to its first win of the season and first under new coach Ann Reynolds, a 25-13, 25-20, 25-19 sweep of Anne Arundel on Wednesday.

Cortney Silvis had nine kills and seven digs, Emma Stahl had nine kills and 16 digs, Brittany Skrutski had eight kills and 13 digs and Elise Manning had nine kills for the Hawks (1-5).


Gannon 3, Shepherd 1

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — Boonsboro graduate Shane Lowery scored Shepherd University’s lone goal in a loss to Gannon.

Max Psillas, a North Hagerstown grad, recorded an assist for Shepherd (1-2), while goalkeeper Edgar Lopez Zuniga had five saves.

Robbie Bennett scored all three goals for Gannon and goalie Micheal Kickel made seven saves.


Shippensburg 2, Shepherd 0

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — Brittany Hibshman and Rhonda Runion each scored a goal for Shippensburg in a win over Shepherd.

Katie Leverentz tallied an assist for Shippensburg (2-1) on the Runion goal. Tessa Jones made seven saves for Shepherd (0-3)

Shelbie Rackley and Samantha Wood split time in the goal for the Lady Raiders to seal the shutout.


East Hardy 3, Berkeley Springs 0

BAKER, W.Va. — Allexa Branham had eight kills and three aces for Berkeley Springs in a 25-17, 25-12, 25-19 loss to East Hardy.

Brooklyn McCusker had 11 assists and five blocks and Toni Davison had four aces for the Indians.

JV: East Hardy, 2-0.

Broadfording 3, CVCS 0

Sarah Couch had 12 kills, 11 digs and three aces to lead Broadfording Christian Academy to a 25-23, 25-21, 25-10 sweep of Cumberland Valley Christian School in the Mason Dixon Christian Conference.

Katie Connolly had three kills, 10 assists and five aces and Anne Hunt had eight assists for the Lions.
