Oscar Keller Harbaugh Jr., 89, of 1019 Pope Ave., Hagerstown, Md., passed away, Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, at his home.

Born Thursday, Feb. 23, 1922, in Brownsville, Md., he was the son of the late Oscar K. Harbaugh Sr. and the late Lillian M. Brill Harbaugh.

He was a staff sergeant in the 550th Airborne Infantry Battalion during World War II, where he received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

He was employed with Letterkenny Army Depot for 24 years, retiring in 1975.

He was a member of Calvary Temple in Williamsport. He was also a member of the Amvets, American Legion Post 211, and Veterans of Foreign Wars 1936. He was very involved with youth baseball, including the National Little League, Pony and Colt Leagues. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marjorie M. Harbaugh; daughter, Wava A. Barker of Williamsport, Md.; daughter, Carol V. Ecton of Keedysville, Md.; son, Calvin E. Harbaugh of Williamsport; daughter, Angela M. Smith of Charles Town, W.Va.; daughter, Kathryn E. Lapole of Hagerstown, son, Gregory A. Harbaugh of Clear Spring, Md.; son, Randy W. Harbaugh of Hagerstown; 29 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren and caretaker, April Braner.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia L. Smith; sisters, Gladys Jenkins and Helen Davis; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be held Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd., Hagerstown, MD 21742, with Pastor Robert V. Robinson officiating.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home, Thursday, Sept. 08, 2011, 7 to 9 p.m.

Interment will follow at the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
